'What's On' - February 2013

Hi Everyone, We hope you have all had a wonderful transition to 2013. It’s not easy getting back into work mode after a lovely break but for me it was. I have moved into my fabulous new office in Alexandra’s new Community House and am looking forward to being more ‘available’.
I love these long balmy evenings with glowing skies that make everything strangely golden. It is appropriate that I feature one of Brian Turner’s poems this month from his new book called ‘Elemental’ which is a collection of around 100 poems selected by the poet from over 30 years of writing. The images accompanying Brian’s words are by well-known Central Otago photographer Gilbert Van Reenan and make the whole book absolutely wonderful.
Sources When you look at the sky in the river
and the rivers in the sky the clouds are currents streaming by without a hesitant word of a lie.
On the spur of more than the moment you lay down, shut your eyes
and listened to the source of all rivers above and below flowing by.
And you lay there thinking about what was the right thing to do in the circumstances and if such
is, therefore, a good thing to do. But all you could see were clouds
in the sky, and all you could hear was the river running by. Neither of them known to tell you a lie.
Check out all things arty happening in our part of the world I have listed below.
Cheers Maxine
