Holocaust Remembrance Day Assembly Recording

At the Senior School assembly held in commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday, January 27, alumna Dr Jennifer Roosma (’75) shared the story of her grandmother, Anna Helen Mahler-Aszkanazy, who fled Vienna with her family in 1938, and remembered those in her family who weren’t able to escape. CHS students supported the presentations with readings from Jennifer’s grandmother's memoir.

Jennifer highlighted how her grandmother’s relentless fight against antisemitism and for peace is a reminder that we must stand together against hatred and discrimination. Watch the assembly recording here.

From Ideas to Action: The New 2024-2025 Senior School Clubs

In response to feedback from students and parents through annual surveys, the Senior School introduced three exciting new clubs at the start of the 2024-2025 school year: Flute Choir, Film Club, and Chess Club. Since September, the Club Captains for these new clubs have led club-specific meetings and events, fostering their leadership skills, and creating more vibrant, welcoming spaces for CHS students. Congratulations to Chess Club Captain Gillian, Grade 11, who recently came second in the North American Youth Championships for U16 Girls in Virginia, USA!

Engaged Citizenship in the Junior School Buddy Program

Learning to be an engaged citizen and exploring opportunities to give back to others is an important part of a student's journey at Crofton House, helping them to build personal and professional skills, create meaningful connections, and build further understanding and empathy about the lives of others. Last week, Grade 5 students and Grade 2 buddies spent time learning more about the value of citizenship and putting citizenship into practice! Read more.

Shaping the Writer Within: Inspiration and Identity with Lily LaMotte

This January, picture book author and graphic novelist Lily LaMotte led engaging presentations about the writing process and creative workshops with students—sharing a strong message about embracing individual journeys and experiences in our writing! Supporting & Empowering Community: Senior School Student Initiatives Beyond CHS

As citizenship continues to be one of Crofton House's three core values, we are always inspired to hear how it resonates as students drive change, engage with their communities, and tackle important social issues beyond campus. At any given time, Senior School students are championing many community-building initiatives. Read about four of these initiatives on our blog.

Basketball league play is wrapping up, and the Crofton Falcons are headed into post-season! Read more about the last two weeks of games as well as updates on the Junior School's Fitness Challenge and the Senior School's Badminton Classic!—on the blog.
