Central Otago District Arts Trust

Hello

What's On in the Arts in Central Otago - July

A sneak peek at part of the recent refurbishments at Central Cinema.

Moviegoers at Central Cinema can now enjoy a newly renovated and refreshed foyer and box office area thanks to the support of Central Otago Community Trust, Central Lakes Trust, Aotearoa Foundation, Pub Charity and the tireless volunteers at the cinema. Patrons are now welcome to arrive early to screenings and enjoy the ambience while they wait for the show to start. Get along to Central Cinema this month to take a look at their renovations and the great selection of movies currently screening.

Cromwell’s Infinite Energy 'Light Up Winter' happens again this weekend. Light up Winter transforms The Mall into a wonderland of fairy lights, magical light installations, and decorated shop fronts. The evening offers live music with performances by local artists, fire dancers, roaming street performers and a vibrant night market with food, drink, and craft stalls. A mass release of lanterns light up the night sky and provide a visual feast and some spectacular photo opportunities. Illuminating Science, an amazing light-based interactive demonstration brought to you by Tūhura Otago Museum and the Dodd-Walls Centre and the Craft Cave, a place where kids can escape the chill and create illuminated art, are some of the extra goodies organisers are offering this year. Get along and support the Cromwell District Promotions Group and enjoy this winter experience.

A celebration of art, food, wine, and heritage is on at the beginning of October at Across the Bridge in Bannockburn. Organisers have put together a programme of exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops, poetry and more - all to be enjoyed in the stunning wine country environs. Registrations for the Across the Bridge Arts School are open now and can be completed online by visiting their new website bannockburnarts.co.nz. Be sure to follow the Across the Bridge facebook page and the Bannockburn Arts website for further updates on this year's offerings.

Have a great July and enjoy everything that is happening in the arts in Central Otago.
