Future Fibres Network Plus Final Newsletter (March 2026) Dear subscribers, As we come to the final newsletter of the Future Fibres Network Plus, it’s remarkable to look back at what we’ve achieved together over the past two years. By providing funding for the network at the right time we were able to bring together the right researchers at the right time. This has allowed us to respond to the right questions, such as 1) how can we build an improved understanding of how environmental sciences and design can be aligned, 2) how can we embed the circular economy thinking across the supply chain and 3) how can we ensure the network’s legacy via innovation in education and skills whilst simultaneously providing value for money in the textile and fashion sector. Our collaborations have enabled those broad visions such as creating a syllabus to help drive the cross‑disciplinary teamwork needed for sustainable textiles. Because of the flexible fund we have been able to address the actual questions that people wanted answered. We were able to be immediately responsive. With the right vision Future Fibres Network Plus illustrates how productive projects can be. 3-minute 'reads' are available for most of the mini projects below. Finally I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed to the dialogue, research, and collaboration that have defined this project. Your engagement has been central to everything we’ve achieved. The partnerships and ideas forged here will continue to evolve and take shape in exciting ways. We look forward to what comes next, and to the impact this community will undoubtedly continue to have. With warm wishes, Tamara Tamara Galloway is Professor of Ecotoxicology at The University of Exeter
End-of-Project Showcase / Annual Research Meeting 2026 Our final two‑day showcase on 26 and 27 March at Nexus, University of Leeds, brought together partners, researchers and industry leaders to celebrate the achievements of the Circular Fashion Programme that incorporates Future Fibres Network+, IMPACT+ and Back to Baselines in Circular Fashion. Across 42 mini‑projects, teams shared breakthrough insights in materials, behaviour change and system innovation. The event culminated in the unveiling of our draft Circular Textiles Roadmap, and evidence-based vision soon to be presented to government which marks a significant step towards shaping a more sustainable future for the UK fashion and textiles sector.
