Click here JULY 2026 Dry Year Drives Urgency for Disaster Readiness and Response Fund A partnership of foundations, businesses and fire responders gathered to announce a new investment in wildfire readiness. Rural fire districts are already stretched thin and need help before disaster strikes. That’s why Oregon Community Foundation and a coalition of partners announced a commitment of at least $1 million. That includes Collective Giving through the Disaster Readiness and Response Fund to help get resources to communities before, during and after wildfires strike. Scholarship Carries On ‘Beloved’ State Senator's Groundbreaking LegacyAva Simone Cabine is the fourth recipient of the Avel Louise Gordly Scholarship for Oregon Black Women Fund. Avel Louise Gordly gathered to celebrate the “beloved” civil rights leader and the latest student supported by the scholarship that honors her legacy. Ava Simone Cabine will attend Spelman College in the fall. Sen. Gordly, known as “conscience of the state Senate,” died earlier this year at age 79. She championed education, having experienced its transformational power. Read how this scholarship honors her groundbreaking legacy. Latino Partnership Grants Support Education, Wealth Building, Leadership Development One of the new grants supports Latino Founders, which leads Pitch Latino to showcase new business ideas. The Latino Partnership Program of Oregon Community Foundation is supporting Latino-led and Latino-serving nonprofits across Oregon with $897,000 in grants to organizations that advance education, leadership development and wealth building in Latino communities. “This year's grants reflect the resilience and resourcefulness of Latino organizations across Oregon,” said Mirna Loreli Cibrian, Senior Program Officer for the Latino Partnership Program.
