🌳 Important community updates
📢 My latest community petitions
🏛️ What's going on in NSW Parliament

I Hosted my First Telopea Community Roundtable

Residents of Telopea would know that there has been a lot of change in the suburb, with the opening of the light rail and the refurbishment of the Three Sisters.

To help me understand how I can best assist the community through these changes, I hosted a roundtable with key stakeholders, including Parramatta Council, Homes NSW, Police, the Principal of Telopea Public, Hope Connect and the Dundas Area Neighbourhood Centre.

I heard from these groups that they would like to see renewal of the shopping centre, refurbishment of the community facilities and the school, improved street lighting and more mental health support, especially to assist with community safety and wellbeing.

The forum was particularly useful in creating connections between all the stakeholders and gave me some more priorities to continue fighting for on behalf of the community.

Lunar New Year Celebrations

Last week, Epping celebrated the beginning of the Year of the Horse! I know the start of a new Lunar Year is a significant date for many in our Electorate and I enjoyed celebrating with the Epping and wider community.

It was great to see an event held in Boronia Park for the first time.

The festivities were a reminder of the rich multiculturism that make up the fabric of our electorate, and it was great to see so many people coming together to share in this cultural tradition.

Speed Limit Review along Blaxland Rd

Transport for NSW is currently conducting a review of the speed limits along Blaxland Rd between Epping Rd and 50m south of Doomben Ave, Epping. The current speed limit is 60km/h with a 50km/h speed limit being proposed.

Transport has asked me to provide any relevant information that should be considered as part of this review. If you have any comments, you would like me to pass on to TfNSW please reach out.

A New Speed Camera on Hannah St

A new speed camera is being installed in Beecroft at the intersection of Beecroft Rd and Hannah St. This intersection has been identified due to the high traffic volumes and safety concerns particularly for pedestrians and nearby residents. This speed camera is a big win for Beecroft residents and community safety.

New Public Holiday for NSW

ANZAC Day is an important day in our country’s calendar to pay our respects to the brave men and women who served and made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the safety and freedom of our country.

This year, with ANZAC Day falling on a weekend NSW residents will gain an extra public holiday on the 27 April, the Monday following ANZAC Day.

Still Fighting for Increased Bus Connections in North Rocks

As some residents may know, I have been fighting for increased buses for North Rocks and Carlingford to better connect those suburbs with major modes of transport like the Light Rail and Epping Station.  I’ve also begun to hear concerns from the parents of Carlingford High School students, regarding pressure on their school bus services. I’ve been able to meet with the Transport Minister’s office to advocate for more buses. Frustratingly they have acknowledged the need but advised that there are no immediate plans to add more services.

That doesn’t mean I will stop fighting. You can join the fight by signing my petition here.

E-Bikes in Epping

I have noticed that there appears to be an uptick on the use of e-bikes in our community. The Government has been very incremental in its policy response to e-bikes and recently announced a policy to seize and crush illegal e-bikes.  However, there is potentially a gap with the policy response in that legal e-biker riders are not licensed and therefore unaccountable when using an e-bike.

I’m interested in community views on this topic and whether a licencing scheme should be introduced – you can share them with me at epping@parliament.nsw.gov.au.

AI Bill - More Bad News for Small Business

The Minns Labor Government has passed legislation that will give unions and government officials unprecedented access to workplace digital systems. The legislation is so broad that it could result in access to HR, payroll and accounting systems.

You can watch my speech on this legislation here.

At a time when inflation is rising, businesses are struggling with red tape and the NSW economy is stagnating, this is an overreach by the State Government.

If you run a business and you have concerns about this legislation, I want to hear from you. You can reach out to me epping@parliament.nsw.gov.au.

Service NSW Centre for Epping

On a final note, this week in Estimates the Minister for Customer Service joked about bringing a Service NSW Centre to Epping. He may have been joking but I’m not.

Let’s make this happen! Sign my petition here.

Kind Regards,
