The Accelerate25 Lead Team last met in August and one of the prevailing themes which came through was the importance of supporting skills and talent in our region. This edition of Growing our Region highlights some of the exciting programmes, accelerators and events available for our talented people to enter or participate in. Please note these are only a sample as there are other programmes out there such as 100% SWEET and the AgTech Hackathon, an event Accelerate25 is a proud sponsor of. JobFest, coordinated by Talent Central, is an annual event for job seekers who want to get a hands on insight into different companies. Meanwhile Sprout and Innovate are at what you could consider the other end of the spectrum. Both are about growing ideas and expanding businesses, with Sprout focusing on the agritech sector. Meanwhile, for those businesses looking to capitalise on the Provincial Growth Fund, central government have recently published a guide, accompanied by a road show of some of the centres in our region. If you have further questions on the fund, approaching your local economic development agency would be the best place to start. The Horowhenua Taste Trail is a unique experience as producers open their doors, providing the opportunity to experience a paddock to plate journey.
