Purposeful Parenting Resources
Supporting Anxious Girls: A Guide for Parents
Children and teens today face layered pressures: performance, belonging, social media, identity, and rapid brain-body change. Some experience anxiety from overload, others from under-support, and often both. Your role isn’t to erase anxiety, but to help your child or teen feel safe, seen, and capable when it arises. As we prepare to welcome registered clinical counsellor Julie-Anne Richards for her presentation, read more about supporting your daughter in navigating anxiety.

Support Future Talent Through the CHS Work Experience Program
The CHS Work Experience Program gives motivated Grade 11 and 12 students the chance to gain real-world experience, contribute meaningfully, and explore career paths. Employers benefit from fresh perspectives, skilled support, and the rewarding opportunity to mentor the next generation.
This year, we have an exceptional number of eager students ready to take on placements—and we’re actively seeking new placement opportunities. If your organization could host a student (or know someone who might be interested!), and you’d like to learn more about getting involved, we’d love to hear from you. Visit the WEP webpage to get in touch.

Student Experience

Happy Halloween, CHS! The spooky season brought our campus to life with trick-or-treating in the Junior School and a costume contest in the Senior School, alongside fall sports and a flurry of other campus happenings over the last two weeks. Check out the highlights gallery here.
Engaging with Authors & Exploring Environmentalism

A huge congratulations to Maddie, Grade 10 and Bella, Grade 11, for their leadership as student representatives during the recent book launch for How to Be Hopeful: Empowering Practices to Overcome Despair and Act for Climate Justice by University of Victoria School of Environmental Studies adjunct professor, keynote speaker and activist Elin Kelsey, on Wednesday, October 29! Their thoughtful and inspiring questions sparked meaningful dialogue around Elin’s new book.
Maddie and Bella, along with Amanda, a Grade 12 student, are serving as student representatives on the CHS team as we participate in the Climate Action Accelerator Program and work together to develop a school-wide climate and nature action plan.
Deepening Understanding: Ivy 8 Indigenous Education Day
In the recent Ivy 8 Day focused on Indigenous education, students engaged in meaningful conversations and hands-on experiences that deepen their understanding of colonization’s lasting impacts and the resilience of Indigenous peoples. Read more.

CHS Parents' Auxiliary
The Senior School Family Night Brings Families Together
Our second annual Senior School Family Night was a wonderful success! Many families had the chance to meet and connect, with a strong showing from our Grade 8 families. Families enjoyed friendly competition at the ping pong table and basketball hoops, and fierce competition during trivia and music games - all in good fun! DJ Jordan kept the energy high, getting both kids and parents out on the dance floor.
None of this would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our event organizers, Joan Liu, Helena Shao, and Melenie Thambiratnam, and their team of volunteers who supported the set-up, sign-in table and clean-up. A heartfelt thank you to all our volunteer parents who also helped make this family event a truly memorable evening.
Engaging Discussions at the Community Book Club
On October 29, CHS parents and alumnae gathered for the Book Club to discuss works by popular author Liane Moriarty. The diverse selection sparked a warm and lively conversation, leaving participants with plenty of new reading recommendations. Our thanks go to Ching Chen for her continued leadership of the Book Club.
Please mark your calendars for the next Winter/Holiday-themed book club meeting on Wednesday, December 10, from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the Nocente Family Fireplace Lounge. Drop in, wear your festive best, and bring a favourite holiday snack (nut-free).
Fitness, Fun and Friends!
The “PB & Jam” Parent Pickleball Socials are continuing in November and December. Check the sign-up sheet to grab a spot. All levels are welcome!
Volunteer Spotlight: Capturing Family Memories and Making New Connections
For the past three years, CHS parents Iain Sinclair (Class of '27) and Yvonne Wong (Class of '26) have been the creative eyes behind the beloved Winter Bazaar portrait sessions. Both were inspired to volunteer out of a shared desire to give back. Read about their memories, and why they each volunteer, on the blog.
Our deepest gratitude to our portrait photographer volunteers for their generous time and talents helping raise funds for our Winter Bazaar community partners. |
