What's on Wilmslow No images? Click here Welcome from the Principal The autumn term at the Guild has been truly splendid. Our ongoing activities have flourished, with an influx of new participants adding vibrancy to our community. As the colder months approach, our community café has introduced a delightful menu of hot dishes. Looking ahead to January, we anticipate the possibility of challenging weather conditions. In the event of snow or severe weather, we kindly advise checking the college’s website before heading to your scheduled activity. For those eager to embark on new learning adventures after the festive season, courses starting post-Christmas and New Year celebrations are now open for online booking. To secure your spot and avoid disappointment, we encourage early bookings. For amusement I ran the sentence about the weather through an AI website to make it more Shakespearean: “Come January, doth beware of the capricious weather, for if snow or tempestuous conditions befall, I beseech thee, consult the Guild’s website before embarking on thy planned activity.” There may be a TikTok from the office next time... keep a look out for the next newsletter. New Classes beginning in January Term begins Tuesday 2nd January 2024. Please check your individual booking pages for any changes. Thanks a million from our Gardening Club Eileen Our thanks go to Eileen Clayton who has decided to step back from organising garden trips. Over the years she has taken us to an electric mix of gardens, with an emphasis on the smaller NGS ones. We very much appreciate all the hard work she has put in researching and leading the visits. Thank you Eileen from us all. On a positive note Eileen will remain on the Committee and more importantly will continue to run our annual Plant sale. No need to despair. One of our new members, Jan Atkinson, has agreed to take on the role and is busy thinking about trips for next year. If anyone else would like to help with the organisation just let us know. Jane After 14 years of organising garden visits, Jane Thornton has decided to step down from the role. I’m sure we would like to thank her for all the hard work she has put in over the years, often arranging two visits a year. She has taken us here and there, to a variety of inspirational gardens both big and small, as well as several Flower shows. Thank you Jane, you will be sorely missed but you deserve a rest. Luckily for us Jane will still remain on the Committee. Life Drawing Events Life drawing is one of the most fascinating things to do in art and design. It is a superb way of starting your drawing journey if you have never been there before, and it is a never-ending theme for more advanced artists at all levels. Sabine will support each learner individually in as much or as little as they wish and she gives plenty of demonstrations of a selection of drawing processes.
