From the Mayor

This week we started consultation with Ku-ring-gai ratepayers about options to fund vital local infrastructure.

Council is considering four rate increase options; three of these will provide extra funding for renewing aging infrastructure such as stormwater and drainage, community buildings, recreational facilities traffic and transport works and footpaths.

You’re invited to comment on the options until midnight 31 August. Find out more and have a say on our engagement hub

This week I met with local businesspeople, the Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby Chambers of Commerce and state government representatives to talk about how we can boost Ku-ring-gai’s night time economy.

If you’re interested in bringing new life to the local area after dark, please give us your ideas on our hub survey. The survey closes on Sunday 27 July.

This Sunday is National Tree Day and you’re invited to plant an area of the endangered Duffy’s Forest ecological community at St Ives Showground.

More than 700 trees, shrubs and groundcover plants will be planted and this year there is the opportunity to plant a tree for a loved one and help keep Ku-ring-gai’s beautiful environment living on in their memory.

Bring gardening gloves and wear enclosed shoes, long pants and long sleeves and Council staff will provide tools, planting assistance and a free BBQ.

I hope to see you there!

Mayor Christine Kay
