Another COVID-19 wave is entering Indonesia. Brace yourself

Indonesia is expecting to welcome another COVID-19 wave by the end of this year. In the past week, COVID-19 patients have tripled to reach more than 30,000 new cases, putting Indonesia in the top 20 of countries with the most coronavirus cases.

Indonesia's  Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has warned that the cases could jump to 20,000 daily this December due to the emergence of new XBB variants. This is alarming, given the country's low booster vaccination rates. Almost 75% of COVID-19 patients who are hospitalised with medium to critical conditions have yet to receive boosters.

If you're an academic or researcher send your pitch here to share your thoughts and insights for our COVID-19 coverage to help the public understand how to navigate this challenging situation while preparing for their year-end holiday.
