The large sticks are intended to be shared resources for all students to enjoy. Thank you for your support in helping keep play inclusive and fair for everyone.
IMPORANT: ⚠️ Please be aware that students should not bring glass containers to school for safety reasons. ⚠️ Thank you for understanding!
Dear Parents and Carers, As we approach the end of a vibrant first semester, our dedicated teachers are busily crafting student reports. It’s a joy to see the many positive reflections being written. Our students have truly thrived, showing growth, enthusiasm, and a wonderful commitment to learning. We’re proud of each and every one of them! Warmest regards, Simon Reid
2027 Enrolments
We have already begun planning for 2027 and are excited about what lies ahead. If you have friends or family who are moving into the area, or who may be interested in joining our wonderful school community, we warmly encourage them to contact our Front Office to enquire about enrolments or to arrange a school tour. Further information can be found here: Enrolments – Coolbinia Primary School
Introducing the Coolbinia Building Fund We are pleased to share the establishment of the Coolbinia Building Fund, a tax deductible initiative designed to support the ongoing development of our school facilities and grounds. This fund will play an important role in ensuring our learning environment continues to evolve to meet the needs of our students and the wider community. Several exciting projects are already planned, including the replacement of the wooden veranda, the repainting of classrooms, and the creation of a dedicated performing arts and music room. These improvements
will enhance both the functionality of our spaces and the learning experiences available to our students. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of families who have already contributed to the fund. If you are in a position to do so, we warmly encourage you to consider supporting this important initiative. Every contribution, large or small, will make a meaningful difference to the future of our school.
Walk Safely to School Day
Last Friday, CPS was buzzing with energy as students, families and staff came together to celebrate Walk Safely to School Day! It was fantastic to see so many students choosing active transport and starting the day with a healthy, active journey to school. The morning was filled with smiles, excitement and plenty of school spirit as walkers and riders arrived ready for the day ahead. A huge thank you to our amazing Year 4 YourMove Leaders, who proudly suited up in their hi-vis gear to welcome participants and hand out stickers, stamps and tattoos along the way. Their enthusiasm helped make the event extra special for everyone involved! Well done to all students and families who took part and helped make the morning another great success for active transport at CPS.
Planting with the Friends of Coolbinia Bushland
Photos hardly capture the incredible sight of more than 400 new seedlings planted during this year’s planting week, as our students once again teamed up with the dedicated volunteers from The Friends of Coolbinia Bushland. Every class across the school joined together with their buddy classes, rolled up their sleeves and got hands on in helping to care for and strengthen our local environment. Students worked enthusiastically to improve habitat, resilience and biodiversity within the bushland, while learning about the importance of protecting our unique ecosystem. Each species planted has been carefully selected specifically for our local biome, under
the guidance and advice from Noongar Elder Neville Collard. This thoughtful approach ensures the bushland continues to thrive for generations to come. The impact of many years of planting, and the enormous dedication of students, staff, families and community volunteers, can already be seen in the thousands of thriving plants now maturing throughout the bushland today. A wonderful achievement by all involved!
Interschool Cross Country Carnival 2026
Coolbinia Primary School is excited to host the Interschool Cross Country Carnival on Friday 5 June 2026 during Week 7. The carnival will take place on the Coolbinia Primary School oval, with the day’s schedule outlined below. A course map and other important information can also be found in the Resources tab. The event is open to students in Years 3 to 6 only. All information has been sent via Compass to participating students and families and is also displayed on the Sport Noticeboard in the UCA. This carnival is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase the hard work, dedication and
training they have put into developing their running skills throughout the term. We encourage families and friends to come along and cheer on all competitors as they represent their schools with pride and determination. Thank you for your ongoing support and we look forward to an exciting and successful carnival day for everyone involved!
Food for Thought
Fascinating research shows that the willingness and motivation to engage in activities that nurture serendipity can be shaped by adaptable and trainable traits such as proactivity, humour, openness to experience, and a willingness to pursue untested ideas. Proactive behaviours such as taking initiative and practising forethought help place us in situations where opportunities are more likely to emerge while also overcoming potential barriers. There is strong empirical evidence linking these traits to improved employment outcomes, higher incomes, and greater growth and success among emerging entrepreneurs.

Chess Competition Preparation at CPS
Students have been busy preparing for their upcoming CPS Chess Competitions, using their recess and lunch breaks to sharpen their skills and test out new strategies. Adding to the excitement, the teachers are also running their own separate chess tournament on the giant chess set to showcase in front of students as a bit of fun. The winning teacher will then take on the student chess champion in a special showdown match later this term. There is plenty of focused thinking, a few surprise moves, and the occasional celebration when a well-planned checkmate lands. It has been fantastic to see students and staff sharing in the fun while building confidence, patience, and problem-solving skills. We are looking forward to seeing how our young
chess players perform in the competition!
A Fun Filled Start to the Term at
Camp Australia
We have had a fantastic start to the term, with children already enthusiastically getting involved in our Art Club and weekly Cooking Classes. Throughout these experiences, children have been building confidence, developing new skills, and expressing their creativity while having lots of fun with their peers. This week, the children have also been learning all about Reconciliation Week through meaningful discussions, creative art projects, and listening to Dreamtime stories to help deepen their understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories. Rocketeers season is also just around the corner, with bookings now officially open! We are excited for another fun-filled winter season and encourage families to have a look at all
the exciting activities, experiences, and adventures we have planned. We would also greatly appreciate any donations of old shoe boxes for an upcoming creative project the children will be participating in. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the service.
Camp Australia’s Winter School Holiday Program is now live and open for bookings! Families can explore a range of exciting activities and experiences planned for the winter break.
