Fuji is a popular music genre in Nigeria, with its roots in wéré, a seasonal Islamic performance during Ramadan. Popularised by Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, it has become the most dominant of the Yoruba musical traditions. A documentary about Barrister’s life and times recently premiered. Saheed Aderinto, its director and producer, speaks on the motivation behind the film and what he wants viewers to learn from it.
