New Student ID Cards to reflect preferred names

From 10 July 2025, all newly issued student ID cards will display students’ preferred names as recorded in the Student System. This initiative supports students who use a name different from their legal name, helping ensure their ID card better reflects their identity and lived experience.

To support this change, students can request a free replacement ID card between 10 July and 31 December 2025. Existing ID cards will remain valid, so students don’t need to request a replacement unless they choose to. Before requesting a replacement, students must ensure their preferred name is updated in the Student System via Ask Flinders. Once updated, they can emai
l idcards@flinders.edu.au with their details and preferred collection method.
