Good afternoon,

This morning, the US Department of Commerce and Census Bureau released the monthly Import/Export data for October. This month’s imported shipments totaled 3,315,947 barrels, down just over 74,000 barrels (-2.2%) compared to October 2021. Despite this downward trend and slowing of growth in recent months, year-to-date shipments remain positive, up +3.9% for the months of January through October of 2022 compared to the same months last year.

One of the biggest contributors to decline for imported beer this month was the slight decline in Mexican imports (-1.1%). I would note, however, that Mexican imports are still experiencing strong YTD trends, up 10.5% compared to YTD 2021. Dutch imports also experienced significant declines, down -15.6% for October, but down only slightly (-1.6%) for YTD. Bright spots for October include imports from Ireland (8.5%), Italy (26%), and the UK (48%).
