Vehicle Grant Awarded

LifeStream was recently awarded a transportation grant to allow us the opportunity to purchase three new vans specific to the Day Programs. This will allow us to transport individuals to places and events within their communities for greater social interaction and community involvement. Many thanks to the Executive Office of Health and Human Services for awarding LifeStream the Transportation Grant.

Day Program Participants Volunteer Efforts

Volunteering within their communities is one of the favorite activities among our Day Program participants. One program where they are volunteering is at PACE Community Food Center’s new location in New Bedford, where customers can browse and select their groceries. Our individuals assist in preparing the bags that are used upon checkout. Program participant Virginia K. wears her volunteer tee shirt every Tuesday to remind everyone that this is the day they go to PACE! A second location where they volunteer is First Unitarian Church, also in New Bedford, where they assist with maintenance and cleaning of the church. “I help to clean the church,” said program participant George T. “It makes me feel good because I’m giving back to the community.”

New Bedford Art Museum Annual Art Show

For the second consecutive year, Day Program individuals were given the opportunity to exhibit their artistic talents for all to see at the New Bedford Museum Art Show. A pre-opening event was held in September to see the entries. “Artistic endeavors have always played a big role in our activities,” said Jen Claudino, Beacon Street Day Program Manager. “This is such a great opportunity to showcase their creativity and love of art.”
