Welcome to the December newsletter

Dear

As 2023 draws to a close, we would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your continued support, which is shown in so many ways. We've loved welcoming many of you back to campus and catching up with you at reunions.

It has been another busy year packed with graduate success stories, and we are very excited as we are moving to a new era, where we will be opening our Leeds Trinity University City Campus.

We wish all of our alumni community and families a wonderful festive break and send our very best wishes for the New Year.

The University will be closed from Thursday 21 December 2023 at 5.00pm and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Congratulations winter graduates

One of the nicest ways to end each year is celebrating with our winter graduates. We have just enjoyed two days of graduations on campus. See more pictures on the University and Alumni Facebook pages.

You can also read about some of our latest graduates on our news page.

Meet the Zagajewskis

Winter graduation enabled us to catch up with the Zagajewski family. This time it was Francesca’s time to celebrate for her second graduation, where she was awarded a PGCE.

Proud parents Siobhan and Frank were cheering her on, both of whom are Leeds Trinity graduates themselves.

Leeds Trinity University City Campus

We are very excited as we move closer to opening the doors to the Leeds Trinity University City Campus in the 2024/25 academic year.

Our Leeds City Campus will be located at Trevelyan Square, in the heart of the city and just minutes away from Leeds train station. Read more.

Restorative justice

We've said before that no two days are the same in the Alumni Office. This was certainly the case earlier this month when we caught up with alumnus Phil Cawley (Economics, 1979).

We visited a Category C prison in the North West of England and sat in on a session where Phil spoke to inmates about the process of restorative justice, where victims of crime have the opportunity to meet their offenders. Full story coming soon.

More journalism success

We are extremely proud that three of our graduates were recently named in the ReelWorld Radio Academy’s 30 under 30 list 2023.

Congratulations to Sophie Merrick (Journalism, 2015), Charlotte Swift (Broadcast Journalism, 2016) and Katie Haseldine (MA Journalism, 2018),

The list celebrates skilled individuals under the age of 30 working in the UK radio and audio sector. Read more.

Featured alumni – Ailin Crowley

Ailin graduated from Film Studies in summer 2023. She initially came from Ireland to study Film at Leeds Trinity as part of the Erasmus programme.

Once Ailin had completed her year abroad with us we're delighted she chose to stay on: "It was due to the practical experience, close support and placement offered by Leeds Trinity that made me decide to stay after my year abroad was finished and complete my studies here."

Ailin is forever grateful for the support she received from lecturers. She says: "If it hadn’t been for the experience gained and the support given to me from lecturers at Leeds Trinity I would never have been able to have gotten this role that will hopefully kickstart my career in production management."
