About the Sorrento Local Port Area Plan project Located on Bunurong Sea Country, Sorrento Pier is popular with people for walking, boating and fishing, and holds significant value to both locals and visitors. It also provides access across the bay to Queenscliff and the Bellarine Peninsula via a commercial ferry service. To ensure it continues to be a safe and thriving maritime precinct for many years to come, Parks Victoria is developing a local port area plan for the pier and surrounding water uses. Focusing on the on-water elements managed by Parks Victoria, the plan aims to provide guidance on the future of pier infrastructure and berthing opportunities, as well as additional improvements to on-water safety, access and function through a review of fairways and the mooring area. The plan will aid the prioritisation of asset investment based on the broader government funding priorities guided by the Sustainable Local Ports Framework. Engagement so far Since late 2023, Parks Victoria has been working with key stakeholders to help develop the draft plan. These conversations helped us to better understand how the area is currently being used and what future changes may need to be considered.
