About this Newsletter

Returning families will be familiar with ECalls, the School’s bi-weekly email newsletter. For new families, ECalls delivers important information and notifications of upcoming events and activities. It also includes a digest of recent school life through blog posts, photos, videos, and event recaps. It is a vital link between the School and parents.

The newsletter will arrive in the inbox of the email account we have on file for you. You can expect to see it every two weeks on a Thursday. The next edition will be sent on Thursday, September 17. Newsletters will also be prominently displayed on the My CHS parent portal for easier access to past issues and important information, as well as on the Newsletters page in My CHS.

Traffic Safety at CHS

School’s back in session, and so is our chance to be excellent neighbours! As we get set to welcome everyone back to campus next week, hear from Fergie about some driving do’s and don’ts as she glides around CHS. Watch video.

Opening Assembly Livestream

Families are invited to join the livestream of the Whole School Opening Assembly on Friday, September 11, at 9:00 am. A recording will also be shared in the Thursday, September 17 edition of ECalls.

Celebrating the Start of the School Year (and Volunteers Still Needed!)

Join us on Friday, September 11, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the Nancy Chan Courtyard and Manrell Hall as we welcome back CHS families and staff! It’s the perfect chance to reconnect with old friends, meet new families, and kick off the school year together with fun games, activities, and yummy treats. Students, siblings, and parents are all welcome! We can’t wait to see you there!

We still need parent volunteers! Please consider helping out for our fun event. It’s a great way to meet fellow parents! The deadline to sign up to volunteer is Sunday, September 6. Sign up here.

School Photo Day on Monday, September 21

Please note that Monday, September 21, is School Photo Day. Photographers from Artona will be on site all day to capture professional portraits of students. Students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 are expected to wear their full #1 Uniform and follow all uniform guidelines noted in the Parent-Student Handbook. There is a second opportunity for photos on Monday, October 19.

Notices - For Your Information

Traffic Update: City of Vancouver Water Meter Work on September 8 & 9

The City of Vancouver will be installing water meters along the 3000-3400 Blocks of 42nd Avenue (between Dunbar and Carnarvon) on Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9. "No Parking" signs will be posted, and there may be brief traffic disruptions or short street closures in the area. Please allow extra time for drop-off and pick-up, and watch for any posted signage. Thank you for your patience and flexibility!

Using the School's Calendar

The School Calendar for 2026-2027 has been updated and is available to view online. Did you know you can download the calendar and upload it to your own personal calendar? Watch this video to learn how to download the calendar and use the calendar tools.

Event Parking Reminder

As the school year gets underway, so too does the variety of CHS community events. As always, the safety and well-being of everyone on campus is our top priority. Please drive carefully, allow extra time for travel and parking, and help us create a safe and respectful environment for all.

Unless otherwise noted in school communications, guests may park for up to three hours on streets adjacent to the School. When parking in these areas, please be a respectful neighbour and adhere to the posted parking regulations. As roads are narrow, extra caution is required to ensure traffic circulation is not hindered, and driveways remain open.

SAGE Dining Is Ready to Serve Up Another Great Year!

With creative menus and balanced, nutrient-dense options, the SAGE Dining team looks forward to serving our community again this year! Learn more about the SAGE Dining program here.

This year, we are pleased to offer a Halal option at lunch every day at the Freestyle station in Manrell Hall.

Have you downloaded the "Touch of SAGE" app? View daily menus and ingredients, create a custom allergen profile, plan meals and provide feedback all in one place on your mobile device.

CHS Parents' Auxiliary

Welcome Back, CHS Parents!

A special welcome to all the new families joining the Crofton House community—we’re so glad you’re here!

The CHS Parents’ Auxiliary (PA) is dedicated to building an inclusive and engaged school community. Throughout the year, we host a variety of social events, activities, and programs designed to bring parents and families together.

For those interested in getting involved, volunteer opportunities will be shared in event emails and in the PA section of ECalls, so be sure to keep an eye out. Whether you have a little time or a lot to give, or a special skill or talent you can share, there are many ways to participate. We would love to hear from you! We’re looking forward to another wonderful year together!

Starting Saturday, September 12, It’s Time to Dink and Rally!

Parents of all skill levels are invited to join in the CHS PB & Jam Pickleball Socials taking place on Saturdays in September. Our first social will be on Saturday, September 12, and will continue through the fall. A huge thank you to CHS parents Bella Wu and John Sun for their dedication and hard work in organizing these events throughout another school year! Sign up here for more details and join us for some kitchen-side chats and light-hearted net play.

Summer Vibes with the CHS Community Book Club

Save the date! The next summer-themed book club meeting is on Wednesday, September 23, at 9:30 am in the Nocente Family Fireplace Lounge. The book theme is anything beach-related, whether a ‘beach read’ or a book set at the beach! Light refreshments, coffee, and tea will be provided. Please RSVP here.

Note: If you are interested in an evening book club this school year, we’d love to hear from you! Please reach out to auxiliary@croftonhouse.ca.

Another Busy Used Uniform Sale

The PA’s Used Uniform Sale was another great success! A huge thank you to Event Chair Cara Yu, our incredible parent volunteers, and everyone who donated gently used uniform pieces. Your generosity and hard work help keep uniforms in circulation, support sustainability, and contribute to the school’s community partners through the Crofton House Winter Bazaar. Missed the sale? Don’t worry, you’ll have a few more opportunities to find great deals throughout the year. Our next sale will be held at the Winter Bazaar—stay tuned for details!
