What's on in Central Otago - May

We are lucky to have people in the community who donate their time to organise events such as the
Rural Women New Zealand WoolOn Fashion Event, the Teviot Valley Wearable Tartan Art Awards and the Cromwell Trashion Show. Local entrepreneurs are producing knitting wools and designer clothing that have gained status in the global marketplace, and we retain an internationally and culturally significant anthology of Haute Couture collected by Naseby farmer Eden Hore. Central Otago is becoming quite the creative fashion hub!
WoolOn has grown from small beginnings with the first event being held at Molyneux Stadium in 2004. Over the years commitment and vision have ensured its viability and now WoolOn is a stand - alone event backed by an enthusiastic collection of local sponsors and facilitators. WoolOn presents an opportunity for people to connect with, and be inspired by our culture, heritage and landscape while
showcasing the extraordinary qualities of exquisite wool fibre and the ways in which this can be used to create high fashion garments. WoolOn 2017 has attracted a remarkable collection of entrants from New Zealand and overseas proving the events growing prestige as a premium fashion experience. Entries will be judged by reputable fashion educators and designers over three days from the 26th-28th May. The Rural Women New Zealand WoolOn Fashion Event 2017 will deliver a fun -filled weekend of creative engagement. 1/ Friday evening 26th May - The New World First Look Event; an opportunity for the community to view creative designs in this year’s show, and for the younger generation to experience the excitement of fashion, the catwalk and design. 2/ Saturday the 27th May - The Premier Showcase Event; winners will be announced at this inspiring and exhilarating extravaganza of fashion and entertainment. 3/ Sunday 28 May - The Special `Up Close’ Event hosted by Central Stories; an opportunity to view some of the garments and hear from the designers. Tickets to these events can be purchased
