What's On in September 2015

Moutere Station's superfine merino wool from this years clip.
Isn’t it great to have winter behind us and to know that spring is almost here. Out on the farms shearing is underway with some lustrous, well crimped wool being classed for sale. The historic Alexandra Blossom Festival to many, marks the start of spring on 25 September. View the Alexandra Art Society's Blossom Festival Art Exhibition and be sure to book your seats to the Alexandra Musical Society’s production of ‘Evita’.
The Fortune Theatre is touring Central Otago with the comedy caper 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' with performances in Ranfurly, Alexandra, Cromwell, Wanaka and Queenstown. See below for more information.
We were thrilled with the turnout for our recent AGM and to hear award winning writer, Philip Temple, (Artist in Residence at Henderson House) speak about some of the trials and tribulations of being a writer. Members of the Trust and our Arts Coordinator Maxine, enjoyed the opportunity to socialise and to get a feel for the ‘state of the arts in Central Otago’. We would like
to remind people that entries into the 2015 Arts Gold Awards close at 4pm, Friday 18 September. Entries are welcome from all New Zealand artists over the age of 18 years. A prize pool totalling $10,500 is to be awarded as follows: Art Excellence Award - $5,000; Central Otago Artist Award - $3,000; Merit Prizes x 2 - $1,000 each and the Viewer’s Choice Award - $500. See www.artawards.nz for more entry details.
