The Passing of the Baton FSLSO is known for our dedication to innovation and stellar service, which is a direct result of our consistent and steadfast leadership. It requires vision, forethought, and patience to lead an organization from inception through the next 25 years. That kind of commitment is rare in today’s job climate. Gary Pullen, FSLSO’s Executive Director since day one, is the embodiment of such commitment. Alas, Gary has run his final lap and officially retired after 25 years of successful leadership. His unmatched public service has greatly impacted the surplus lines community. We will certainly miss him, but we hope he enjoys retirement to the fullest. FSLSO’s former Chief Financial Officer, Mark Shealy, is picking up the baton. Mark worked with Gary Pullen to start the office back in 1998 and served as CFO when the office opened its doors. After some very successful business ventures and leadership roles, Mark rejoined FSLSO last year as CFO once again. It seemed a natural fit for him to assume the Executive Director role upon Gary’s departure. We are thrilled to gain such a bright mind and natural fit to lead FSLSO. Great job, Mark! You earned it. FSLA Convention Last week, the FSLSO team traveled to Palm Beach to take part in the Florida Surplus Lines Association (FSLA) Annual Convention. We conferenced with customers, listened to industry leaders, and celebrated Gary Pullen’s retirement. Mark Shealy gave a thoughtful and insightful presentation in his new role as Executive Director on the state of the surplus lines marketplace. Our sincerest thanks to FSLA for putting on such a well-done event.
