I spent the majority of my nursing career in orthopaedics. I left the orthopaedic department when I graduated as a nurse practitioner 3 years ago. I spent some time in Primary Care building a solid foundation to my clinical practice. I am happy to finally be returning to the orthopaedic department. Outside of work I spend my time being a mom. As a family we love to go hiking and camping.

Dawn Lombard PA-C has been awarded MCW’s Outstanding Medical Student Teachers Award for 2023-2024. She was recognized by Course Director April Zehm, MD, for teaching the course Climb 2.

Inclusion and Outreach Committee
In October the MCW Staff taught 8th grade students at MLK Middle School about finances by playing a modified game of monopoly. The purpose of the game was to give students an idea of the pros and cons of different orthopaedic career paths related to finances.

Introducing the New Office of Equal Access!
The new Office of Equal Access (OEA), launched in August 2024, was created to provide a single point of contact to address concerns of discrimination, harassment or other unfair treatment to members of the MCW community. OEA is designed to promote accountability with MCW’s commitment to non-discrimination and anti-harassment, and to ensure compliance with MCW’s Human Resources policies, Title IX policies and ADA/504
policies and procedures. It serves individuals throughout the organization to investigate and resolve concerns of discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct.
OEA is located within the Offices of Human Resources and Faculty Affairs and is led by Elizabeth Drew, JD, who is the senior director. The OEA team will focus efforts to increase transparency and accountability and facilitate streamlined processes and leadership of EEO/Civil Rights compliance procedures. Additionally, the team will serve as the primary resource for outreach, training, education, and guidance in alignment with current best practices to facilitate equal access to all of MCW’s programs and activities.
