Medium to High Density Building Code Improvements Report Now Available

The construction of medium to high density multi-residential buildings continues to increase across Ontario, leading to growing municipal concerns about the proper design of garbage, recycling and organics collection systems in these types of these buildings

To address the concerns, CIF contracted Dillon Consulting to conduct a study that identifies current and evolving issues, and makes recommendations for improvement, including:

  • Legislative changes to the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and Planning Act
  • Policies that could be implemented at municipal, regional and provincial levels
  • Standard clauses that can be included in municipal development guidelines and manuals

Dillon Consulting’s report is now available and has been posted to the CIF Transition Portal.

The report can also be accessed on the Funded Projects page of the CIF website under Project Number 1191.
