To view thesis title and viewable copy click here > Ella Keegan (EPSW) Anne Mettte Adams (NHS) What's New?YOUR STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES ON THE UNIVERSITY HIGHER DEGREE BY RESEARCH COMMITTEEThe University Higher Degrees by Research Committee (UHDRC) has student representation in its membership to enhance its student-centred approach and voice for the governance of HDR students. Your HDR Student Members (voting) are Sarah Crossman and Amandi Hiyare. The HDR Student Alternate Members are Hamid Ullah Azizi and Nathan Harrison. Please reach out to them if you have any concerns or suggestions. Read more > NOMINATE YOUR SUPERVISORNominations are now open for the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in HDR Supervision. HDR students who wish to nominate a supervisor are asked to submit their nomination by Friday 9 June 2023. The recipient of the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in HDR Supervision is acknowledged for their outstanding achievements across the various dimensions of excellence in supervision. The nomination form and details about the eligibility criteria can be found here. 3MT COMPETITIONThere is still time to register in the 3MT competition and develop your research communication skills. In the 3MT competition, competitors progress through heats, the semi-final, the University final, and then the Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition, held virtually in Brisbane in October 2023. We are returning to a live presentation format this year, so this is your chance to connect with your peers, develop your presentations skills and win some prize money. Register by Thursday 15 June! Read more > HDR COMPLETIONS WORKSHOP - 8 JUNEThis intensive full-day workshop assists HDR students in their final 6 months of candidature to complete and submit their thesis. It draws on a body of research to present students with practical skills and strategies to assist the writing up process, and an opportunity to apply those strategies in a supported session specifically designed for those close to completion. It also provides useful tools for editing your own work, and details the Flinders University thesis submission processes and requirements. LIBRARY INDUCTION FOR NEW HDR STUDENTSFlinders University Library is committed to providing resources, and support during your research journey. This session is a brief overview of library resources available and an opportunity for you to enhance your ORCID and your ResearchNow profile. The next dates are in person on Tuesday 13 June in the Central Library or online on Tuesday 20 June. Enrol here > SEVEN STEPS TO ACADEMIC WRITING SUCCESSThis is a two-part workshop (Mon 5 June and Mon 19 June - 9.30am-11.30am) delivered by Malini Devadas from MD Writing and Editing. This seven-step academic writing framework helps writers break down the writing process into manageable chunks. By applying this framework, you can get started on your document with confidence much earlier and produce a high-quality product with much less stress. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to; create a realistic timeframe for writing; make a detailed document plan, making the writing process much faster; and edit your own work efficiently and objectively.
