Looks like an Exciting Year at Unplanned Good! Our focus remains on 1) increasing awareness of open adoption as an option for women facing unplanned pregnancy, and 2) supporting the brave women who choose adoption, then choose parents, for their babies. Those two goals underscore all we do. We believe that more education and improved birth mother care help ensure that women have all the information and support they need.
Tina & her son, Eric Recent speaking events ... Unplanned Good at Kiwanis Our friend and birthmother, Tina Amoroso, shared her story at a Kiwanis meeting last month: After discovering her pregnancy at the age of 15 and attempting three abortion, she ultimately chose life for her son. Shortly after Eric was born, Tina tried to raise him, but soon realized she was not able to give him the life he deserved. She then chose adoption for him, and has remained in his life and in the life of his adoptive family. Tina loves sharing her story to inspire hope, compassion and support for anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy. Adoption Instead of Abortion Podcast How fun to be on the LIFETALK NW podcast with Rebecca Anderson and Dan Kennedy. Here we talk about why adoption is a remote third choice, and a bit of history: how the cruel practices of adoption in the 1950s - 1970s treated women poorly and gave adoption a bad reputation. Third Option Updates, April 2026 Following our January meeting with HHS in DC, the Unplanned Good team submitted two appropriations requests; one through Congressman Simpson's office and one directly to Chairman Aderholt's office. This would be for Federal funding of Third Option programs in the 16 States that want to become Third Option States. Third Option Publicized from Oregon Pro-Life Radio, hosted by Vicky and Bruce Cherry, covers the facts on prolife issues. Last month they learned about The Third Option from their recent guests, Oregon Representative Boice and his wife & Chief of Staff, Britt Ivy Boice. Together they had an hour-long conversation in which they explored thethirdoption.org ... what it is and why it's needed. This information got the hosts quite fired up about this initiative! Here's the link.
RESOURCES: Adoption Training for PRCs! Adoption training enables counselors to speak confidently with patients about today's open adoption. Last year, after our PRC in California held a training, adoption referrals went from 7 in 2024 to 29 in 2025, a huge increase(!) In December, we conducted training at a pregnancy resource center (PRC) in Idaho, helping staff to start conversations about adoption. Since this 90-minute "bite-sized" training was so well-received, we are now offering this online for PRCs across the country. If women get ALL the info about ALL their options, more will choose adoption. We look forward to reaching more clinics with these sessions.
RESOURCES: Flyers for PRC Clinics Our Board Member, Jen Nazarowski, works with the Wellbeing Services & Resources at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma WA. She provided them with flyers for their clinic, explaining adoption to women who might be facing an unplanned pregnancy. Speaking Awards My friend Teresa Zumwald aims to make my keynote speeches as impactful as possible. Every award she wins helps to keep Unplanned Good in the global spotlight!
Together, we are spreading the message of Unplanned Good!
A Word about our Speaking Engagements We never know where the next opportunity will come from but Terri is always honored and welcomes speaking invitations. We happily accept speaking opportunities, regardless of "pro life" or "pro choice" perspectives -- there's always new info to share and receive. Just like the books below, we engage in discussion with everyone. Resources Whether you are ‘pro-choice’ or ‘pro-life’, one of these two books will speak your language. Join us! We increase awareness of open adoption as an option for women facing unplanned pregnancy, and strive to improve care for the brave women who choose life, then parents, for their babies.
