They were invited to share their expertise in social impact and the tools for climate change mitigation and adaptation through a presentation and co-design workshops. Social Media Highlights13 posts = 36,497 impressions for BGL Highlights for social media last month included the release of three professionally produced videos showcasing our Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program, featuring students from Business, HRM, and Law. We also had a successful post for the ALAA conference and saw more trending TikToks from our marketing students about exams and the start of a new semester. A video promoting our new Diploma in Sports Management (Cricket) with SACA also gained traction on Instagram. Our biggest highlight was the IRPS TikTok ad, which became the top-performing paid TikTok last month, with an impressive average watch time of 7.96 seconds, significantly higher than our account average of 3.73 seconds. Illuminate Adelaide 2024: A Glowing Success for Flinders Illuminate Adelaide 2024 was a glowing success for Flinders University, attracting 23,000 community members and sparking interest in future students. What's been happening in BGL?Flinders & CBGL 2024 Higher Degree Research Information and Recruitment Event On 4 July 2024 Flinders and CBGL had our Higher Degree Research (HDR) Information and Recruitment Event. Discover the highlights and key takeaways from this exciting event. Empowering Support: Training on the SAHAR Tool for Refugee and Migrant Women Nada Ibrahim recently attended a 3-day training in Paramatta, Sydney, on the SAHAR tool, which is used for screening and responding to domestic violence with refugee and migrant women. The training was co-facilitated by Professor Joanne Spangaro and Dr. Jeannette Walsh from the University of Wollongong, and it was funded by the Settlement Council of Australia (SCOA) and hosted by SSI. Female entrepreneurship in Dubai, UAE: Student study tour A group of students from the College led by Dr Manoharan had the unique opportunity to travel to Dubai. There, they engaged in peer-to-peer learning, attended masterclasses, and received mentoring from women social and digital entrepreneurs in the Arab region. This immersive experience provided the students with valuable insights into entrepreneurial career paths. The initiative not only seeks to enhance the entrepreneurial landscape in the region but also strives to promote female entrepreneurship as a means of economic empowerment. This project signifies a dedicated endeavour to support SDG 5 and promote sustainable development through inclusive economic practices. It underscores the College's commitment to nurturing global citizenship and advancing gender equality, both locally and internationally. The team (Dr Manoharan and A/Prof Jones) extend their gratitude to the Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CAAR) and Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for their support. International Symposium: Women entrepreneurs, gender equality and social cohesion in Cairo, Egypt Flinders University, in collaboration with the American University in Cairo (AUC), recently hosted a pivotal symposium on "Women Entrepreneurs, Gender Equality, and Social Cohesion." The event brought together diverse participants, including academics from the AUC School of Business, the Cairo Women Entrepreneurs Network, Arabize, and Alexandria University, to discuss and address critical issues facing women entrepreneurs in Egypt. Participants emphasized the significant contributions of women entrepreneurs to Egypt's economic and social development, the challenges that women entrepreneurs encounter, the establishment of a robust ecosystem specific to women entrepreneurs. The participants highlighted the necessity of conducting more research focused on the MENA region to understand its unique cultural, social, and economic contexts.
