Documentation of procedural training when working with animals

All animal users should document procedural training they have received from their PIs, senior laboratory members, veterinary staff or at other institutions.

Streamlining export control review of purchases

Export Control review of purchases will be streamlined in the next Workday update! If you process Requisitions, stay tuned for training opportunities and changes in the Workday requisition process.

Planning international collaborations or fieldwork?

Work with the Export Control Team in advance if you plan to travel with or send research equipment, samples or other materials to international destinations. Government licenses may be required. Email questions to ExportControl@Brown.edu

New NIH guidance on foreign interference

NIH published their decision matrix for assessing foreign interference in August 2024. NIH continues to strongly support international collaboration and presents this matrix as part of its ongoing efforts to be transparent about its policies and procedures. Pennell develops groundwater remediation technology

Brown PI Kurt Pennell (Engineering) has developed a technology under SERDP for remediation of groundwater impacted with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances that uses an in situ permeable adsorptive barrier created by injecting a stabilized ion exchange resin.

AHRQ Grantees - Upcoming change in Final Reporting Requirements

Grant recipients will begin submitting their Final Research Performance Progress Report (F-RPPR), which replaces the Final Progress Report for closeout) and Final Invention Statement (FIS) directly in eRA’s Commons module for all awards that end after Oct. 1, 2024.

Retirement of NIH’s Automated Just-in-Time Email Notification

The eRA system-generated email notification announcing the availability to submit Just-in-Time information for an application in eRA Commons will be retired as of Oct. 1, 2024. The official notification requesting JIT material(s) is sent directly by NIH staff from the awarding Institute/Center to those who have applications under consideration for funding. NSF has updated Grant General Conditions and other Award documents

NSF Award Terms and Conditions have been updated to implement the revised 2 CFR published on April 22, 2024. As part of its implementation strategy, NSF has archived the Research Terms and Conditions (RTC) and the NSF Agency Specific Requirements.
