And just like that it's September, and that only means one thing... It's nearly time for our Forest Festival!


Next week we will be gathering at the Westmorland County Show to bring together as many woodland and forestry folks as we can in one place. Make sure you have your tickets and we look forward to catching up with you all. Above you can see the lineup of speakers or follow the link below.


Elsewhere we have another of our Ancient Woodland courses this month with some spaces still available plus, our online course, Ground Preparation For Woodland Creation is returning next month. There are also a couple of great events happening this week with Carbon Calling and Farming for Nature at Hollin Bank, more details are below.

Forest Festival is next week (13th and 14th of September) at the Westmorland County Show. The list of speakers and demos have been growing steadily over the summer and full line up is availble on our website (link below).

Ground Prep is Back!

Our first-ever online course is returning in October. We've had over 600 people enrol on the course so far making it our most popular course.

The course opens again on the 23rd of October and runs until the 1st of December. The cost is £50 and you can book your place following the link below.

Ancient Woodland Training

We still have some spaces on our Ancient Woodland course coming up in September. This is a fantastic opportunity to spend time with ancient woodland specialists out in the woods on a plantation on ancient woodland site.

Managing the Threats to PAWS (Sept 21st) is priced at £150, and will be held at Thirlmere.

Tree Shelter Recycling

Got any tubes to recycle?

There is a tube collection on 7-9 Sept, Bowe Barn, Borrowdale Road, Keswick, CA12 5UP organised with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.

Please book in advance by emailing tubes@ydmt.org

 

To date, they have recycled close to 150,000 shelters from the hubs in the Dales, Lakes and Devon.

 

"By using these hubs we are showing that a circular economy for the end of life for these products is possible, and ensuring these collection points will continue in the future"

Carbon Calling

Carbon Calling is a conference in Cumbria happening on the 9th/10th of September, organised by farmers for farmers!

A cracking lineup of speakers including grazier Jaime Elizondo from the US, mixed farmer Stuart Johnson from Hexham, Cheese makers Sally & Andrew Hattan from Nidderdale, Irish Dairy farmer Bruce Johnson, author Sarah Langford.
