While alternative investment is a bigger part of the Defined Contribution (DC) conversation than ever before, allocation to alternative and illiquid assets has been slow to grow among DC schemes. There is a growing recognition of the value that these assets can provide as part of a diversified portfolio, especially against the backdrop of current economic uncertainty. However, there are still challenges to be addressed in order to facilitate more effective investment strategies.

This report explores the topic of DC scheme investment in alternative and illiquid assets, particularly in light of new opportunities and the potential benefits that could be gained from the use of these types of assets during times of economic uncertainty. The research covers the current landscape, as well as recent developments that have contributed to it and the way in which it may develop in future.

The event will be chaired by John Chilman, Railpen and PPI Trustee, who will be joined by a panel of experts, Des Healy (DWP), Lauren Wilkinson (PPI), Nico Aspinall (Nico Aspinall Consulting) and Jeremy De Pessemier (World Gold Council).
