We're blooming yet again and we'd love to have you join in the fun.

This Saturday, April 13th on The Green at the University Town Center from 6pm - 8pm we will be celebrating the launch of the Sarasota Posies Flower Truck! It's really happening and we couldn't be more excited!

A little story time, it was June 18, 2022 and I was driving Miss Posies to a private event at the St. Pete Pier. I had been on 275 just briefly and little did I know a new Posies fan flew past us, took pictures and shared on TikTok about seeing this cute little flower truck "Posies". Shortly thereafter, as we were at the Pier, this excited lady comes running over and says "I just passed you on the interstate & now you're here!" We immediately hit it off, my new friend from San Antonio, Texas who was once a nurse, turned florist was now traveling the country with her husband in an RV for the last 5 years. The next day I texted her to see if she'd like to come help us make flower crowns for an event we had. I didn't know where they were staying or even how long they were in town, but thought it was worth a shot. Seconds after texting she replied with a "I'm staying at an RV Park in a small town called Oldsmar." Of course she was living just 5 minutes from Posies HQ and 15 minutes later she was in our warehouse talking flowers. That's how this friendship was born, total happenstance, which seems to be the Posies way of life.

So much has transpired since that day at the Pier, and now our amazing Julie Peters and husband Don will be at the helm of our Sarasota location. She immediately fell in love with Tampa Bay, Posies and everything our beautiful area has to offer. They planted roots in Ellenton, and our 1971 VW truck Wildflower is headed over the bridge permanently to make the people of Bradenton and Sarasota happy!

Please join us Saturday as we'd love to see you and introduce you to Julie and Wildflower! We will have give-a-ways, from flower bouquets, Posies merch, gift certificates and more (while supplies last!) There will be live music, free drinks, a donut truck, hair braiding station and more. Come celebrate and welcome Julie and Wildflower to Sarasota!

As the world starts to wake from its winter slumber, the cherry blossom is at the forefront. Blooming with grace and beauty, adding life and color back to the world after a cold, dark season.

The Cherry blossom has strong symbolic ties within many cultures and traditions but is most prevalent in Japanese culture.

What are Cherry Blossoms?
Cherry blossoms are the delicate pale pink or white flowers that bloom each spring on the branches of both flowering cherry trees and fruiting cherry trees. The blossoming of the tree usually takes place in a short 2-week window each year before the petals fall like confetti making way for the new buds of the summer foliage.

What is the Meaning of Cherry Blossom?
The symbolism of cherry blossom is probably the most well-known within Japanese culture.

In Japan, the cherry blossom is known as ‘sakura’ and every year in around April time, people will gather to see the spectacle of the thousands of Japanese flowering cherry trees in full bloom. This tradition is known as ‘hanami’ which literally translates to ‘cherry blossom viewing’.

People from all over the world will attend this once in a lifetime cherry blossom festival and the locals with gather with their close friends and family to celebrate under the trees. Viewing platforms are filled with people day and night just to get a glimpse of the infamous pink flowers.

But what are people really celebrating underneath the Japanese cherry blossom tree?
The true meaning of the cherry blossom is somewhat bittersweet, their overwhelming beauty is there each spring to remind us that life is beautiful yet fleeting.

In Japanese culture, these themes can be traced back thousands of years. The pink petals and fallen cherry blossom are the epitome of beauty and our own mortality.

So when we see people celebrating underneath the boughs of the tree, they are living in the moment with the people they hold dearest. Laughing and reminiscing, honoring the loved ones they’ve lost while making good intentions for the new year and what lies ahead.
