Update on using Barnard's Early Academic Report

Just a reminder . . .

We understand Columbia University just sent out its second Academic Difficulty Report announcement,  but we hope you will instead choose to use our Barnard-specific Early Academic Report (EAR) to notify the Dean of Studies Office if a student is not performing well in your course.

Barnard's EAR is customized for Barnard and unlike Columbia’s document, does not ask you to just submit a grade on a student's current work, but instead gives you the opportunity to provide more insight into how and why a student might be underperforming. The EAR makes it easier for our Class Deans to communicate with you and the student’s adviser, and to work as a team to help improve the student’s academic performance.  The EAR can be found here https://barnard-advocate.symplicity.com/public_report (click the drop-down menu to find the EAR form) and is also available on the myBarnard portal.

Upcoming deadlines

Today - Friday, April 13
Student Planning is now open for students to begin planning their fall class schedules. Meet with your Advisees and grant them “Permission to Register” in WebAdvisor. As we mentioned last week, you are still required to submit "Grant Permission to Register" for your advisees during this current advising period for Fall 2018 registration, but we are working on changing the process to remove this requirement for subsequent semesters. Need a refresher on how the “Permission to Register” process works? Visit:  "How to view your Advisees’ course selections and grant permission for their initial registration."
