Welcome from Derek Cribb, Chief Executive

We welcome you again to another China and South East Asia newsletter.

This has been an incredibly busy year for the IFoA. Our international engagement has expanded with the appointment of Wen Li; her role is to tie together the different strands of education, member support and public affairs. Many of you will know Wen through the IFoA Weibo account, please do link up with us to continue our engagement with you.

David Hare, President of the IFoA and Trevor Watkins, Director of Education will be visiting Hong Kong (28 November) and Beijing (4-5 December) to present awards to the winners of the Sir Edward Johnston Prize, and to meet with universities and employers in the region. You can read more about that visit below.

There is also a lot coming up in the New Year which will ensure that we are kept busy. In the first half of 2014 members will see the results of the work we’ve been doing improving our website.  We will also be launching the new Certified Actuarial Analyst qualification, to give those working at a technical actuarial level a valuable qualification.

Projects such as the ones above are ongoing and it is an exciting prospect for us to be able to report on these events. We look forward to a very engaging trip in November and December and to meeting as many members of the IFoA as we can.

Regards

Derek Cribb, Chief Executive
