Congratulations to Our Community for a Vibrant Winter Bazaar 2025!
Thank you to CHS students, staff, families, friends, partners, and neighbours who participated in the Crofton Winter Bazaar on Saturday, November 29. Thank you to students for creating crafts and items for the Bazaar, providing musical entertainment, volunteering at the event, and participating in the day’s festivities. Thank you to all the staff for facilitating this process, from teachers to the facilities team, and the communications team. Thank you to alumnae who made jam and labelled jars, and thank you to the vast and incredible group of parent volunteers, including the Winter Bazaar co-chairs, who invested countless hours to bring this magical event to life for the CHS community.
The Parents’ Auxiliary leads this special tradition at CHS, which dates back to 1944, when proceeds from student-made goods supported the Red Cross in its war efforts. Today, the proceeds from the Winter Bazaar go to two community organizations with whom we partner to deepen student learning about children and food insecurity through Backpack Buddies, and women’s rights and needs in Vancouver through the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. This annual event brings to life something very special about Crofton House School: our commitment to making a positive impact on the broader community of which we are a part.
Best wishes for the holiday season,
Ena Harrop, Head of School
Kara McDonald, Deputy Head
On behalf of the PA Winter Bazaar team, thank you for your support in making the 2025 Winter Bazaar such a memorable event. It truly takes a village, and we had an extraordinary team behind us: the CHS facilities and custodial teams; Morgan Pulkinen, Manager, Events & Rentals; school staff and leadership; convenors; and, of course, all our CHS parents, students, and families. The CHS Parents’ Auxiliary would like to extend special thanks to this year’s Winter Bazaar co-chairs Heather Brunt, Frances Chen, and Shelly Chen for their tireless leadership and dedication.
Thank you,
CHS Parents' Auxiliary

Whole Girl, Whole World - Supporting Girls to Thrive: Tools for Parents
At this year’s Whole Girl, Whole World speaker series events, students, staff and parents had the opportunity to hear from registered clinical counsellor Julie-Anne Richards. Throughout her presentations to staff and students during the day and parents in the evening, she shared her insights about helping students (and adults!) manage anxiety, while continuing to connect and support each other. Learn more about the important takeaways shared on our blog and view the recording here.
Senior School Parents’ Learning Together Session: Assessment and Reporting as Tools for Improved Learning
A session focused on understanding the framework for reporting at CHS will be held on Thursday, December 11, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the Bains Family Amphitheatre. The session begins with a structured refresher of the information covered in the session last year. The second half of the session will be devoted to extending that foundation into more sophisticated conversations with students around their learning. Join us at 8:00 am for coffee and conversation before the session. Please RSVP and submit any questions or topics in advance using the provided form by Friday, December
5.

Preparing for 2026-2027 Enrolment
The enrolment process for the upcoming school year begins in December. Please look for a letter from the Head of School and the Chair of the Board announcing the 2026-2027 tuition on Wednesday, December 17. Additional information about the enrollment process and instructions for completing the Enrolment Agreement will follow on Thursday, December 18. The completed agreement is due by Sunday, February 1, 2026.
For families intending to enroll for 2026-2027, the Enrolment, Tuition, and Billing page on the My CHS Community Portal provides a comprehensive overview of the enrollment process and access to all necessary documents. Please note: documents for the 2026-2027 year will be updated with the release of the Enrolment Agreement.
Families planning to withdraw at the end of the 2026-2027 school year, or those facing circumstances that create uncertainty about enrolling next year, are encouraged to contact the Head of School, Ena Harrop, before the end of December.
Thank you to all parents and guardians for promptly completing the enrolment agreement questionnaire.
Has Your Contact Information Changed?
It is essential for the School to have the most current contact information, particularly in the event of an emergency. If there has been a change in your address, email address or telephone/cellphone number, you can update your contact information in MySchool by completing the “Review and Update Contact Info” questionnaire, open until Thursday, December 18.

National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
This Friday, December 5, the campus flag will be lowered to half-mast for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This day honours the 14 young women who were murdered in the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre and reaffirms our collective commitment to ending violence against women. Let us take time to remember, reflect, and work toward a safer, more equitable world for all women.
Holiday & Vacation Calendar for 2026-2027
The Holiday & Vacation Calendar (click the 2026-2027 tab) has been updated for the 2026–2027 school year. The calendar can be found on the My CHS Community Portal or by searching for “holiday calendar” in the website search tool. Our holiday and vacation schedule is generous, with extended breaks twice during the school year (December/January and March). The School thanks parents/guardians for restricting family vacation plans to the established holidays. Regular school attendance significantly boosts students' academic success by improving grades and proficiency while fostering stronger social connections through
consistent engagement with peers and teachers.
Junior School After-School Program Cancellations on December 18
All after-school activities, including After School Care Programs (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 7), are cancelled on Thursday, December 18, to accommodate a staff event. Please make family plans to pick up your child at 3:10 pm when school ends for the day. |

Kicking Off Change: Women's Sport & Leadership with Professional Soccer Player Christie Gray ’17

Last week, Grade 5, 6, 7, and Leadership 10 students heard directly from CHS alumna and professional soccer player Christie Gray ’17 about her experience as a Crofton Falcons athlete, her career in professional sport, and her overall insights into the power and future of women’s sport. Her path to professional soccer wasn’t always straightforward either, and her resilience, kindness, and leadership amidst her unconventional path are an important example for CHS students and student-athletes alike. CHS Community Book Club Events
Reminder - The December winter/holiday-themed book club meeting on Wednesday, December 10, from 9:30 to 10:30 am will take place in the Nocente Family Fireplace Lounge. Parents and alumnae are invited to drop in, wear your festive best, and bring a favourite holiday snack (nut-free). No RSVP required!
Exciting news! Please join Crofton House School alumna Natasha Soregaroli ’20 as she discusses her recently published book, Becoming Me, Again, on Wednesday, January 21, at 9:30 am in the Nocente Family Fireplace Lounge.
Natasha recently graduated from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University and is working for a tech startup empowering youth action. She wrote Becoming Me, Again when she was 18 years old as a way to work through her feelings of isolation and self-doubt. It is a heartfelt love letter for any young girl navigating her way through the teenage years. Her perspective on stress, fear, and self-love serves as a valuable lesson for both young and old.
Please note: You can pre-purchase Becoming Me, Again for $22.93. Please sign up to purchase here by Friday, December 12, where you will be prompted to send an e-transfer to auxiliary@croftonhouse.ca (please remember to include your full name in the message section). Books will be available for collection one week before, on Wednesday, January 14 or at the Book Club meeting on Wednesday, January 21. |
