Dear colleagues,
The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success (ACSES) is excited to invite expressions of interest (EOIs) from researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and other relevant professionals to join the selection pool for our new ACSES Expert Review Panels.
Expert Review Panels will be responsible for independently reviewing grant applications shortlisted by ACSES, assessing applications against provided criteria, and ranking them in order of merit.
ACSES provides a range of competitive grants to researchers and higher education institutions nationwide across the Centre’s three core programs: Research and Policy, Trials and Evaluation, and Data.
Expert Review Panels will be appointed to review each round of grants offered, with panellists selected according to the expertise required for each initiative.
Applicants’ experience and background will be considered when determining the overall composition of each panel, ensuring they are appropriately skilled, diverse, and balanced.
EOIs can be submitted online until Monday, 12 October.

Living the Learning Loop: 2026 Equity Frontiers Forum
Join us next month for the ACSES Living the Learning Loop: 2026 Equity Frontiers Forum. This event will bring together equity practitioners working in the Australian higher education sector, to share practical experience and learning from the past year of delivering quantitative impact evaluations of equity initiatives.
The 2026 Equity Frontiers Forum will include presentations delivered by equity practitioners from The University of Western Australia, Deakin University, and Charles Darwin University, followed by an opportunity to participate in a Q&A panel discussion. ACSES Policy Symposium 2026: full wrap-up available now
ACSES last week hosted its flagship annual event, the ACSES Policy Symposium 2026, which brought together nearly 200 university leaders, policymakers, academics, and student equity experts for two days of robust discussion.
Close to 700 online registrants also tuned in to the event, which was held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 8–9 September with support from Griffith University.
The theme, The Evolving Student in Higher Education, inspired a broad range of presentations and panel discussions examining practical, evidence-based solutions for driving impactful change in student equity policy and practice.
In just three years, the ACSES Policy Symposium has cemented itself as one of Australia’s foremost annual gatherings for advancing student equity in higher education, with the 2026 event the biggest and most well-received to date.

ACSES releases 2025 Annual Report
ACSES has published its 2025 Annual Report, outlining the Centre’s operations, activities, impact, and strategic direction for the calendar year.
The report contains an overview of progress and performance across ACSES’s three key programs—Data, Research and Policy, and Trials and Evaluation—as well as funding, operations, compliance, and governance details.
