Discover Midsumma Presents EventsLaceshipLaceship is inspired by horror cult classic film The Exorcist. Three performers inhabit characters from the film through a queer lens exploring themes of religious unorthodoxy, embodied exorcisms, Catholic ceremony and demonic ritual. 28 April - 2 May, Temperance Hall Line Up, Sign Up, Muck UpDJ sets and spoken word! A curated line-up of spoken word extraordinaires, cued and wooed by DJ Hip Hop Hoe. Plus, an open mic section and an unpredictable spectacle of improvised sonic-phonic wonder. 23 April, Hare Hole Queer Playwriting Award ShowcaseWitness staged readings of brand new queer theatre works. This development program aims to identify, support and develop new playwriting talent and get queer issues out there for mainstream audiences to consider and enjoy. 27 April, Gasworks Arts Park This multi projection audio visual installation reveals venomous terminology that proliferates throughout white supremacist patriarchy on same sex (male) ‘hook up’ apps. 19 April - 2 May, Gasworks Arts Park, FREE daily A Festive MassAll are welcome to this annual celebration of the lives of LGBTIQ+ people of faith in the context of a beautiful and uplifting Sung Mass with our talented choir and a thoughtful, stimulating and encouraging reflection. 23 April, St Mark's Anglican Church FitzroyPerversionThe ultimate sub-culture dance event presented by Folsom Down Under. A A party that celebrates sexually adventurous queer subculture through dress code, exhibitionism, and dirty, filthy dance music. Come to the dance event and then recover at Deviants, at a secret location the next day. 23 April, Chasers Nightclub PRIDElweiss is BACK!PRIDElweiss, the official beer of Midsumma Festival, is a crisp, refreshing beer made for everyone to love. After raising $45,000 over the last four years, Stomping Ground is again donating 50¢ from every PRIDElweiss sold to Midsumma Futures, a mentorship program for emerging LGBTQIA+ artists.
