Bustin’ Barriers was touched too. We had to cancel one program and go virtual with another but with the availability of the vaccine, especially for those 12-18, we were able to Come Together and offer in-person summer camps. Since fun and meaningful interaction, in a safe environment, is part of our mission we followed CDC guidelines: outdoor camps, all staff and volunteers vaccinated, everyone wearing masks and a series of activities that turned a field into a playground of games, art projects, dancing and friendship. Campers told us Bustin Barriers is a Happy Place. This summer we also proudly rejoiced in our first coach who came to Bustin Barriers as an elementary school camper, developed into a volunteer and disability advocate and joined the paid leadership team this past summer. As we approach 2022, our Come Together theme continues. We look forward to more in-person activities.
We look forward to continuing to provide opportunities for kids experiencing disability to be active, have fun and achieve their personal best. Your support of Bustin’ Barriers allows us to meet necessary expenses and expand program opportunities. It is a kindness that makes a difference in the lives of many children and youth. To donate please go to our website (www.bustinbarriers.org) to make a secure donation. Thank you and best wishes for a happy, healthy and equitable new year. Sincerely, ![]() Andrew Yoshihara |
