From the Mayor
We are now on the busy run-up to Christmas, with many activities, events and meetings happening around the Ku-ring-gai area.
At our Council meeting on Tuesday night, Council made several decisions, including approving our 2023/24 Annual Report and State of the City report and forming a Youth Advisory Committee.
On Wednesday morning, I took part in the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Walk The Talk event, which was held to advocate for a future which is free from violence against women.
Earlier this week, I also launched the Ku-ring-gai Says No to Gender-Based Violence campaign with Ku-ring-gai Police Superintendent Matt Scott and Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney CEO Elizabeth Lovell.
Also on Wednesday, I had the pleasure of chairing the first meeting of Council’s Status of Women’s Advisory Committee, before attending Council’s annual event at the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden celebrating and recognising the work of our many local volunteers and volunteer organisations.
On Sunday, the Rotary Club of Wahroonga will be hosting the annual Wahroonga Village Fair. With around 140 stalls and food trucks, and proceeds going to local charities and community programs, I can’t think of a better way to enjoy the first day of summer.
Housing options feedbackCouncil has released alternative housing options for the Roseville, Lindfield, Killara and Gordon station precincts. The options all deliver the same level of housing under the NSW Government’s Transport Oriented Development controls. You can comment until 17 December. |

Norman Griffiths Oval update
The Council is continuing to cooperate with the EPA in their investigation into alleged pollution incidents and has actively addressed the EPA’s concerns as they have arisen.
The project team are currently dealing with a network infrastructure upgrade involving Sydney Water’s sewage system and are also working through design conditions with the contractor to ensure the desired stormwater management measures for the site are designed and delivered to meet the Council’s expectations.
At this stage the team is working to a completion date of mid 2025 when the site is expected to reopen for community use.
The use of and bookings for the Oval will be managed under the existing generic Plan of Management to maintain continued access by the community

Summer school holidays
Ku-ring-gai Art Centre
The Ku-ring-gai Art Centre has lots of creative workshops and events for kids, teens and toddlers including an open day on 13 January to try lots of creative activities.
Wildflower Garden
School holiday fun at Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden, St Ives is on 5 December until 5 February. Come along for some adventure such as Survival Skills, Camping & Cooking, Junior Keepers and Mystic Adventures.
Vacation Care
Hyper Karting, surf school, Archie Brother Cirque, Brazilian jiu jitsu and judo are just some of the activities planned for our summer vacation care program!
Youth events and activities
Leading up to Christmas we have some fun workshops for your 12 - 24 year olds.
Ku-ring-gai Library
Create, explore and be entertained in our libraries with coding and Lego clubs, craft-a-noons, mermaids and pirates storytime and puppet and kite making.
Lindara MarketThe Lindara Market raises funds for the Lindara outreach program for families. Home-made cakes and jams, clothes, $1 books, Devonshire teas and pre-loved jewellery.
