Kia ora Work to install the new bus lanes and replace a watermain along Lincoln Road has been progressing well, despite several bouts of wet weather. We thank businesses, residents and road users for their patience while we work in Addington. We know roadworks are disruptive for you and we’re working day and night so we can get out of your way sooner. Spencer Street closureWe need to close Spencer Street at the intersection with Lincoln Road to install the new watermain and complete new footpaths and an intersection upgrade. We will also be working along Lincoln Road, between Barrington Street and Parlane Street. Work will be carried out from Monday 22 August until Friday 30 September. Night work will be needed at times to connect the new watermain while water use is low. Residents of Spencer Street will be detoured and signage will be in place. Lincoln Road will remain open to two-way traffic. Thanks for your patience while we complete this work. Major intersection improvementsFrom Monday 22 August until Friday 14 October we'll be working to make the Lincoln Road/Barrington Street/Whiteleigh Avenue intersection safer. Work includes new kerb and channel, footpaths, drainage, traffic signal improvements, relocation of services, resurfacing and line-marking. We will need to reduce lanes at various times during the work. Please expect delays at peak times and allow extra time for your journey. The Barrington/Whiteleigh/Lincoln Road intersection is extremely busy, carrying around 50,000 vehicle movements a day. As part of the intersection improvements we’ll be installing a safety platform. These are increasingly being used across New Zealand to improve safety through intersections by encouraging safer speeds. To install the safety platform and complete final road resurfacing, we'll need to close the intersection over the first weekend in October. We'll have more details on that in a future update. Night workWe're doing final road resurfacing at night on Lincoln Road and Moorhouse Avenue when it's quieter. From 7pm Sunday 18 September until 6am Friday 23 September, Lincoln Road will be one-way city bound from Whiteleigh Avenue to Moorhouse Avenue. Two-way traffic will be restored during the day. A detour will be in place for westbound traffic via Blenheim Road through to Whiteleigh Avenue, and Selwyn Street through to Barrington Street. As we move along Lincoln Road to lay the new asphalt, side roads will be temporarily closed. Pleases follow signage. Cyclists are encouraged to use the Little River Link cycle route to avoid the roadworks. Keep in touchLet us know if you have any specific access needs or any questions about the work.
