Over the last few weeks, we've been making repairs to the brick barrel pipe on Madras Street. The works will require an overnight road closure, from 9pm on Sunday 29 June until 6am on Monday 30 June. ![]() There may be some traffic delays in the area. Please follow signposted detours.
Some repairs are also being made to the brick barrel stormwater pipe at the southern end of Madras Street, near the Ara campus. A lane closure is in place to allow the work to go ahead safely. These work is expected to finish up in mid-July. Thanks for your patience while we finish upgrading the stadium streets. Speed change consultation closing 9 July![]() Christchurch City Council must reconsult on speed limit changes around the stadium in light of recent government legislation changes. A range of new speed limits were due to come into effect in the next few months. However, the Government’s new Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2024, which came into force after the project was approved by the Council, does not allow changes approved under the previous rule to go ahead. Click below to view the cost-benefit disclosure statements, and find out how the calculations are made, and make a submission. Consultation is open until Wednesday 9 July.
