Community Liaison Group November meeting minutesThanks to all who attended the Community Liaison Group meeting on Tuesday 19 November at the Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Boardroom. At the meeting, members of the community acknowledged there has been a reduction in the number of odour incidents, but felt that this was also influenced by weather events – for example, the direction of the wind. Environment Canterbury encouraged the community to continue to report odour through their Smelt-it app. Christchurch City Council shared updates on a section of the Organics Processing Plant site being returned to the Council, and our external environment consultants Pattle Delamore Partners continued their monthly proactive odour monitoring reports. We also touched on the future use of the site, which the Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board will discuss in more detail at a meeting scheduled for 27 February 2025. Living Earth continues to engage Tonkin + Taylor to review the biofilter. Thermographic testing has found consistent temperatures through the biofilter, which is a positive result. The conversation with Environment Canterbury included Ecogas’ resource consent application for the new Organics Processing Facility in Hornby, which is currently being processed. As requested at the meeting, Environment Canterbury confirmed with the Council on 25 November 2025 that they have received the information requested from Ecogas with regards to their resource consent application. Therefore, the application is no longer on hold. View the meeting minutes here.
