This Gut Health Month shines a spotlight on the incredible power of the gut and the important role it plays in overall health and wellbeing.For people living with an acquired brain injury, nutrition plays an important role in supporting recovery, brain health, and quality of life.
Our Dietitian specialises in brain injury and nutrition, working closely with our interdisciplinary team to help clients build the skills, confidence and knowledge to improve their nutritional intake and overall health and wellbeing. Our Specialist Dietitian can assist clients with: - Improving energy levels and managing fatigue
- Individualised nutrition plans tailored towards personal goals
- Support with tube feeding and enteral nutrition
- Practical strategies to improve gut health
- Chronic disease management
- Achieving a comfortable, sustainable weight to support mobility and endurance
- And much more

The National Assistance Card is available to people living with ABI
Have you heard of the National Assistance Card?If you are an autistic person or are living with brain injury, the National Assistance Card is a simple way to let others know when you need help – especially in situations where you feel stressed, overwhelmed, or unable to communicate.
The card includes personalised information about the impacts of your disability, helping people understand how to support you in everyday situations, like at the shops, on public transport, at medical appointments, or in emergencies. The National Assistance Card is now available for people with brain injury across Australia.

Join us for our next Youth Reconnect Transition Program (yRTP)
Are you a young person under 30 living with a brain injury and looking to build confidence, skills, and connection?
Our Youth Reconnect Transition Program (yRTP) is a supportive group program designed to help young people navigate life after brain injury, reconnect with their goals, and build independence alongside peers who understand. Each session will be supported by Peer Mentors from our Peer Support Program, offering guidance, connection and lived-experience support. Our upcoming yRTP is starting Friday 10 April 2026, running for 10 consecutive weeks: When: Fridays
Time: 10.30am to 1pm (with lunch provided)
Where: BISA City Hub – 70 Light Square, Adelaide
Dates: Starts Friday 10 April 2026 running until Friday 12 June 2026
yRTP is FREE to attend. Registrations are essential. If you, or someone you know, are interested in participating in our yRTP program commencing Friday 10 April, please complete the expression of interest form via the BISA website. Brain Injury SA's RTP is proudly supported and funded by Lifetime Support Authority of South Australia.
Join us for our upcoming Carers Information Sessions
Are you a carer looking for connection, support, and practical insights into supporting someone with an ABI?BISA is hosting a series of Carers Information Sessions at each of our hub locations and online. Each session covers a different topic and offers an opportunity for carers to come and along and connect with other carers of someone with an acquired brain injury.
Upcoming SessionFinding the Right Support Worker
Join us for a discussion about working with Support Workers. In this session, we’ll explore the role of Support Workers, what carers can expect from them, and how to select someone who is the right fit for your family member and the care they need.
We’ll also discuss the importance of formal supports within care arrangements, helping carers create space for their own wellbeing. In addition, we’ll share strategies for managing challenging situations when things don’t go to plan. By the end of the session, you’ll have a better understanding of how to identify and work with the right supports for your family member and your caring role. When: Thursday 19 March 2026, 1.30pm to 3pm

Community Participation Opportunities
Find TBIAdelaide University is seeking volunteers to participate in a study to better understand brain health in people with Parkinson's disease OR who have experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or concussion after the age of 10.
