What's Hot this Month?

What you're reading...

Virginia Lane is not a hero by Rosalind Stopps

A provocative, challenging, very modern novel. Some well-constructed dialogue with a developed story line and believable twists and turns. The characters’ development was very believable. Warning – there are some harrowing child abuse themes.
~ Chris R ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Ledge by Christian White

Very well written. Not normally a reader of crime/ thriller books but the blurb on back got me in. I was convinced I knew what the outcome would be, but I was wrong. Will read more of his books.
~Anon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Women living deliciously by Florence Given

A reflection on how one can live their #bestlife. Given addresses internal and external barriers that may be limiting joy, and explores ways to recenter and embrace the most authentic version of yourself. Told with Given’s typical candour and accompanied by her lush illustrations, this one is must-read.
By Sam

By any other name by Jodi Picoult

Pamela Allen is a timeless children’s author. She uses lots of rhyme and repetition, so children are fully entertained. One of my favorites is “Mr McGee and the elephants”. Tea, elephants, mud and jam sandwiches make for a delightful and humorous tale that your child is bound to love! The Library has many of Pamela Allen’s books in our picture book collection.
By Mel

Dirty money by Charlotte Philby and The Hidden hand by Stella Rimington

Two new page-turner thrillers from authors with real life connections to the espionage world: Charlotte Philby, granddaughter of notorious double agent Kim Philby; and Stella Rimington, ex Director General of MI5. Traverse the underworld of the richest and poorest of London with Philby’s edgy, emotional, white-hot detectives. Or take a brisk walk around Oxford’s competitive academic milieu with Rimington’s composed CIA and MI5 operatives, as they delve into China’s student surveillance and the dangers of deep-fake.
