We have a brilliant programme of activities lined up on accessible platforms to help you up-skill and advance in your academic and professional life. Read on to find out more. Our priority is to provide internet access for teaching and learning purposes to email and Blackboard, while work continues on the University network. However we would ask you not to use the Wi-Fi for any other applications, specifically social media or video, as this will compromise the bandwidth. What do I need?Your student ID card, and the network name & password for the Wi-Fi spot. You can find the network name & password on a poster which will be on display in the space. LibraryOpening Times You must have your student ID card for contact tracing purposes. Reading RoomOpening Times You must have your student ID card for contact tracing purposes. Bailey Allen HallOpening Times You must book a space to study in the Bailey Allen Hall. Book yours here. You can book up to three days in advance to guarantee a space, or book upon arrival by scanning the QR code on an empty desk. Click the link beside "Don't have a booking?" If the space is vacant, you can then complete a reservation. Booking is essential for contact tracing purposes. SKILLS WEEK: WHAT'S ON? Using Apps for Working Smart2–3.30pm Mon, 11 Oct From Outlook 365 to MS Sway, Teams to Forms, use the Office application stack for your own projects and group collaboration. Apps & Tools to Enhance & Manage Your College Life12–2pm Weds, 13 Oct Familiarise yourself with a range of tools and apps to help navigate online learning, interact with your content and manage your time and deadlines. Workshop facilitated by Darragh (formerly Educated Machine ) in collaboration with Digital Champions NUI Galway. Avoiding Plagiarism3–3.30pm Wed & Thurs, 13–14 Oct Avoiding plagiarism is an important part of academic integrity. You will learn the basics of referencing practice and good paraphrasing techniques, as well as time management and clear note-taking. THINKING OF CHANGING COURSE OR MODULE? Changing CourseYour course is the degree programme that you have chosen to study. Students wishing to change courses (internal transfers) may do so up to 29 October, 2021. Please email mary.liddy@nuigalway.ie and provide the following details: Name, ID number, course they are currently in and course they wish to transfer to (e.g. GY101, GY401 etc.) Students will also need to provide their Leaving Cert points. They may only be considered for internal transfer if they have the points for the course they wish to transfer to. Changing ModulesA module is a subsection of your course, which covers a specific subject area. In light of the network issues on campus, students wishing to change modules should contact their module leader directly to ask them to add them to their modules, including adding them to the Blackboard site. UniCoV Project UniCoV is important. UniCoV study is a study aimed at developing and informing SARS-CoV-2 rapid testing and surveillance systems in higher education in the Republic of Ireland and to assist the return to campus activity.
