Welcome to the Spring ICE newsletter

Dear Alumni,

Welcome to the ICE newsletter, which keeps you up to date with news, events and opportunities specifically tailored for alumni of the Institute of Childhood and Education (and all educational courses prior to its formation).

We are excited to announce that our 2023 Children, Young People and Families Conference: Champions of Childhood will be taking place on Thursday 25 May at Leeds Trinity. Hear from Senior Lecturer and alumna Katie Simpson, pictured above (English and Media, 2001) about the conference.

The conference, which is free to attend, is taking place from 9.30am – 3.00pm and would be beneficial for anyone supporting children, young people and families across Leeds. The conference will address the issue of reducing social inequalities, so if you or any of your colleagues or contacts would benefit from this, you can book your place now.

Schools History Project (SHP) 2023

We are also proud to let you know the 2023 Schools History Project Summer Conference is now open for booking. This year it is online but expect the usual mix of rigour, fun and history teacher inspiration.

Are you, or do you have a colleague who is…

● Looking for inspiration for your KS2-5 history teaching?
● Looking to build your subject knowledge?
● Thinking about developing your subject leadership?
● Wanting to engage with the exam boards or to investigate the newest resources available from publishers?
● A trainee or ECT who would like to be part of the history teaching community?

See the full programme.

The conference begins at 5.30pm on Friday 7 July and runs all day on Saturday 8 July. Book your place.
