Quarry Transformation Grants - Update

Grant funding was announced yesterday for four sites to help with the thinking around future land use. The Quarry Transformation Grants is helping quarries plan for a positive legacy that gives the local community maximum benefit by providing opportunities to develop and test ideas for repurposing the land after quarrying stops.

The Grants were awarded to a small quarry in the Otway ranges, which has been unused since 2014, to help become a summer camp and creative space for the community. Burdett Sands near Frankston will develop a concept design for a new biodiversity corridor to potentially be created from a water drainage easement. Two Boral sites will also receive support, at Montrose to help develop a landscape masterplan, and at Wollert to look at the feasibility of creating more parkland.

Work is already underway and these exciting projects are due to be finalised by June 2023.

More information is available at the Quarry Transformation Grants webpage.
