In an occasional dive into the practice archive, we would like to share the essay, 'Why Experience the Classics?'. David uses Italo Calvino's description of classic texts as a starting point for a plea to visit and care for significant architecture: "a classic is a work which constantly generates a pulviscular cloud of critical discourse around it, but which always shakes the particles off." Read the article on the studio website here. Originally published in
'Jim Stirling and the Red Trilogy: Three Radical Buildings,' ed. Alan Berman (Frances Lincoln, 2010).
