Welcome Spring 2025 Interns

FSLSO is thrilled to introduce our current IGNITE intern cohort: 

Haley, is a Risk Management & Insurance student at Florida State University planning to graduate in the spring of 2026. She is originally from Yardley, Pennsylvania and will be headed to Chicago, Illinois to complete a summer internship with AmWins Specialty Casualty Solutions.

Margaret, originally from Arden Hills, Minnesota, is a Marketing and Risk Management & Insurance student at Florida State University. She will graduate in May of 2025 and has accepted a full-time position with Hull & Company as an associate broker. 

Anthony, originally from Parkland, Florida, is a Florida State University student studying Risk Management/Insurance and Real Estate. He will be graduating in May of 2025 and joining Chubb as an Underwriting Associate. 

Faith, is a Risk Management & Insurance student at Florida State University and originally from Clewiston, Florida. She is set to graduate in May of 2025.  

Tidy Up Your SLIP+ Agency Account

If you manage your agency’s SLIP+ account, now is the perfect time to review and update your Associated Agent Selection to ensure accuracy.

How to Update Your Agents:

• To Add an Agent: Complete an Agent Authorization Form and submit it to agent.services@fslso.com.

• To Remove an Agent: Notify us directly at agent.services@fslso.com.

Remember: Only FSLSO staff can make additions or removals for agency accounts.

What is a Compliance Review?

Every three years, both resident and non-resident surplus lines agents undergo a Compliance Review. This review involves a fundamental verification of key information, including policy effective dates, premiums, tax, fee and assessment calculations, required statutory disclaimers, and diligent effort forms. 

For the selected policies under review, the following documentation must be provided: 

• Complete policy declaration page 
• Diligent Effort forms 
• Endorsements 
• Policy face or front page 
• Invoices 
• Inspection report or invoice (if applicable)
• Membership agreement (if applicable)
• Any other relevant supporting documentation

Insurer Updates:

• Emerald Bay Specialty Insurance Company (NAIC #: 17527) has recently been approved by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation as a Federally Authorized surplus lines insurer.
• Petroleum Marketers Management Insurance Company Inc. dba PMMIC (NAIC #: 11062) has recently been approved by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation as a Florida Eligible surplus lines insurer.
• Alien insurer Berkshire Hathaway European Insurance DAC (AA-1780132) has filed the necessary documents with the NAIC IID and have been added to the Quarterly Listing of Alien Insurers, effective Q4-2024.
