The Origins of Life

Lena Vincent, a graduate student at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, would find herself awake at night pondering questions like, What is cancer? Why is life like this? Enter: Astrobiology, where scientists in the field were asking the biggest questions of all. Now, Vincent is on the forefront of the field of astrobiology and leading studies that could guide research into the building blocks of life.

A UW–Madison-led study of Medicaid patients found that the longer they take medication to treat their opioid use disorder, the less likely they are to overdose.

Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is a mouthful of a heart disease. While it's very rare, it can be fatal. Researchers in the College of Engineering are uncovering new details about heart cells to inform CPVT treatment strategies.
