We are looking forward to meeting you and your student at orientation next week! ![]() ![]() Kalya Slack and Dylan Wen (Lisa Matusi not pictured) ![]() Nicolette Evans and Allie Ricci Fisher Undergraduate Students to Present Research at NCACongratulations to our undergraduate students who were recently selected to present their research at the National Communication Association Conference this November! This is an impressive accomplishment for these sophomore and senior students. These papers were developed using research conducted in two of Dr. Austin Lee’s courses in Fall 2018. Kalya Slack ’21, Dylan Wen ’21, and, Lisa Matusi ’21 will present their paper “The influence of backdrop color on speaker credibility.” Nicolette Evans ’19 and Allie Ricci Fisher ’19 will present their paper “The impact of inclusive advertising: The effects on mood, body satisfaction, sense of representation, and purchase intention.” Nicolette and Allie's paper also received the Top Paper Award for Student Section. Graduate Students Complete Capstones![]() Eight of our Health and Strategic Communication master’s students completed capstone last month! They presented their evidence-based intervention projects to HCOM faculty, and topics included a bone marrow donation website called Let's Get This Match, a social media college student mental health campaign focused toward Asian-American students called Be S.M.A.R.T., a suicide prevention training presentation for U.S. veterans and their families called Help on the Home Front, and a college instructors' student mental help resource website called CU Care. The students are now off to varying new adventures, including entering the Ph.D. program in Communication at the University of Delaware, and starting positions at the AdCouncil and the San Luis Obispo County Department of Health.
